It is the mission of the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office Street Level Crimes Unit (SLCU) to aid the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Law Enforcement in providing safer communities throughout Cecil County through the gathering and application of criminal intelligence, and to apply that intelligence to efforts intended to prevent criminal activity as well as to stop any ongoing criminal activity. The Street Level Crimes Unit has responsibility for targeted enforcement in problem areas. They assist the Cecil County Drug Task Force in investigations and service of search and seizure warrants. They also work with K9 deputies, Patrol deputies and CID with selective enforcement and surveillance details One SLCU deputy is assigned to the Maryland State Apprehension Team which works in conjunction with the United States Marshal Service. This unit targets violent offenders trying to evade arrest. In 2019 the unit arrested 194 persons.
