Happy Holidays from the Cecil County Sheriff's Office

As the holiday season approaches and the year comes to a close, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all residents of Cecil County for a safe, happy, and peaceful holiday season.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your Sheriff. I am profoundly grateful for the hard work and dedication of our deputies, administrative staff, and all first responders who will be working through the holidays and sacrificing time with their own loved ones to ensure the safety and security of our communities. Their commitment is truly inspiring.

I also want to express my sincere appreciation for the tremendous support and assistance we receive from our community members throughout the year. Your active involvement in keeping Cecil County a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family is what makes this County so special. It's this shared commitment that binds us together and makes us stronger.

Holiday Safety Reminders

While the holidays are a time for joy and celebration, it is essential to keep safety at the forefront. Many of you will be driving some distance for the holidays. Please keep the following safety tips in mind while you travel, whether it be near or far:

  • Buckle your safety belt – it's the best way to stay safe in a vehicle.
  • Designate a Driver: If you plan to celebrate with alcohol, please do not drink and drive. Plan for a designated driver or use a rideshare service to ensure a safe trip home after holiday gatherings.
  • Travel with Caution: Avoid distracted driving (put your phone away) and be courteous to other drivers.   Leave earlier than usual, you're bound to run into a few traffic jams, be cut off, or forced to stop short - remain calm and polite - don't let other drivers ruin your holidays.
  • Secure Your Home and Vehicle: When shopping, lock valuables in your trunk and out of plain sight. If traveling, take the necessary measures to secure your home.
  • Beware of Scams: Be vigilant against holiday scams, including fraudulent emails, package-delivery texts, and calls demanding payment via gift cards. Legitimate agencies will never ask for payment this way.
  • Check on Neighbors: Take care of family, friends, and neighbors, be aware that the holidays can be a challenging time for some. Reach out if you or someone you know is struggling.

Our office remains steadfast in our commitment to working with you to improve the quality of life for every resident. If you need assistance, our office is open 24 hours a day and can be reached for non-emergency calls at 410-996-5500 or, in an emergency, by calling 911. We are here for you, always.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and a healthy, prosperous New Year!

May this season bring you joy, peace, and cherished moments with your loved ones.

Sincerely,

 Sheriff Signature
