Pursuant to the recent outbreak of the Novel Corona virus (COVID-19), the Cecil County Division of Permits & Inspections have closed their office to the public and  have instituted the following permit submittal procedures,  This request is being made to protect our employees and the general public and to ensure yours and our health and welfare are maintained to the maximum extent practicable.  Our website includes maps, regulations, applications and various forms.  Our online GIS application is also available to you at

Building Permit Application Submittal

Building Permit Drop Off Box 
For Your Convenience is located inside the Front Doors of the County Administration Building. Open from 8 to Noon.  Doors Close at Noon.
Your Permit Package Must Include:
Building Application Associated with Type of Work You are Performing and All Permit Requirements Associated with that Permit Application.
Applicant(s) Signatures are required on all applications in order to be processed.
Reminder:  If property is within the incorporated Town limits of Cecilton, Chesapeake City, Charlestown, North East, Perryville, or Port Deposit, the approval of the Town is require prior to applying for a County Building Permit.  Contact the appropriate Town for information and approval process.

After we process your permit you will be Contacted by the County Finance Department regarding Payment Options for your permit.  Building Permit Applications Require a Minimum Payment of $30.00 to be Paid at Time of Application. 

When the payment is processed your permit will move forward to be reviewed by the Departments Required for your permit.  When your permit is approved by all required departments you will be notified of our procedure for picking  up your approved permit.

You can contact us for updates on the status of your permit from 8 to 4:30 Monday thru Friday
