In memory of Congressman John Lewis, by Executive Order 02-2020, Cecil County Government flags have been lowered to half-staff for the time period beginning on July 20, 2020 and ending at sunset on the day of Congressman Lewis' interment.

The legislative session of the County Council of Cecil County, Maryland, which had been scheduled on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, has been postponed because of the widespread outages caused by the hurricane.

CORONAVIRUS CC LOGO 0320 JIC updates 

In early March 2020, at the request of County Executive Alan McCarthy, the Cecil County COVID-19 Joint Information Center (JIC) was formed as a means to provide consolidated and thorough information to the citizens of Cecil County. The JIC is comprised of more than 30 public information officials and communication leads for agencies throughout the county. The JIC is led by Jen Lyall, Public Information Officer/Cecil County Government, and Michelle Lloyd, Deputy Emergency Manager/Department of Emergency Services, with the support and direction of Chief Richard Brooks, Director of Emergency Services.

The next JIC update will be on Wednesday, July 1th. Please contact your local agencies with specific questions or inquiries in the interim. COVID-19 statistics for Maryland and Cecil County can be viewed at https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/.

ELKTON, MD. – To date, as reported by the Cecil County Health Department, there have been 487 (+11 from 06/24/20) confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County, and 351 (+6 from 06/24/20) of those confirmed cases have been released from isolation. There are 37 (+1 from 06/24/20) COVID-19-related deaths in Cecil County.

COVID-19 continues to be a community-spread pandemic. Please remain vigilant and safe in your day-to-day activities as every person we come in contact with is a potential risk to our health. Please continue to wear a mask when necessary, practice social distancing, wash your hands often, sanitize frequently touched surfaces, and sneeze/cough into a tissue or your elbow.

Cecil County Government
Cecil County Government offices will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of Independence Day.

Solid Waste Management Division facilities (Central Landfill, Woodlawn & Stemmers Run Transfer Stations) will be OPEN on Friday, July 3rd, but CLOSED on Saturday, July 4th.

Cecil County Department of Emergency Servicesems clinicians needed
Cecil County Department of Emergency Services is hiring Temporary EMS Clinicians. If you are a certified EMS Clinician affected by the closures associated with COVID-19 & would be interested in a temporary position, please contact Asst. Chief Paul Massarelli at paul.massarelli@ccdps.org.

Cecil County Social Services
If customers need to reach a department for services, they should call 443-945-8613 and a worker will take the information and provide it to the correct department. Someone from the proper department will then call the customer back.

Cecil County Government
Cecil County Government (CCG) remains committed to protecting the health and welfare of its employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining essential, core services to the constituents of Cecil County. To safely and incrementally move County operations forward, CCG will reopen County work sites to the public, by appointment only, for essential County business. Therefore, the following protocol is effective beginning June 8, 2020, until further notice:

  • Public access to County work sites is limited to appointment only, with as much business as possible being conducted electronically or by telephone.

To maximize social distancing, employees in telework-eligible positions are to continue to work remotely as much as possible. Employees in non-telework eligible positions will report to the work site. All employees at work sites are to follow health and safety protocols for COVID-19.

The vestibule at the Administration Building remains open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to allow for drop-off and pick-ups for Permits, Finance, Housing, Purchasing, Land Use, and Public Works. Please make sure your documents are clearly marked with name/organization and contact information.

  • All Cecil County Solid Waste Management Division facilities are open for normal operations. This includes the Central Landfill, Woodlawn, and Stemmers Run Transfer Stations.

In addition, citizens are reminded that they can access the www.ccgov.org website, and follow on social media, to obtain further information and direction on items of interest.
