ELKTON, MD. – The Cecil County Council will continue to perform the legislative function of county government during this state of emergency.

Maryland’s Attorney General has provided guidelines for public bodies to follow during the COVID-19 emergency. The Council must adhere to the Open Meetings Act while the county building is restricted. The Council office will strive to provide the best possible opportunity to observe the Council and address Council Members during public hearings and public comments.

Beginning on April 7, the public may watch and listen to the Council work sessions, legislative sessions, and budget hearings by going online to www.ccgov.org/council and clicking on the live stream link.

To submit comments during Public Comments or testimony for a Public Hearing, the public may call 410.996.5201 or email: council@ccgov.org by one hour prior to the session.  A full name, address and contact information is required.  Public comments and testimony will be read during the meeting.

The Council’s legislative session are scheduled on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 7pm. Because of budget hearings, the Council work sessions have been curtailed. Council budget hearings with departments and agencies have been scheduled at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 14, 21, 28, and May 5. The public budget hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 12 at 7pm. Final consideration of the FY 2021 budget will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at 7pm during the Council legislative session. All meetings will be held in the Elk Room of the County Administration Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton, MD 21921.

During this health crisis, the Cecil County Administration Building is closed to the public, except by appointment, in order to reduce the spread of disease. For further information about the Council sessions, please call the Council Office at 410.996.5201 or email: council@ccgov.org.
