 A wrap-up of the recent legislative session of the Cecil County Council.
Legislative sessions are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m.
in the Elk Room at the Cecil County Administration Building in Elkton, MD.
The public is always welcome to attend.

Supplemental Appropriation – Fund Balance – Domestic Violence Department – Continuum of Care
A resolution to amend the Annual Budget and Appropriation Ordinance for Cecil County, Maryland for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020 in order to provide $68,076 to the Community Services Fund – Domestic Violence Department to record the grant award from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the purpose of a Continuum of Care grant to provide rental assistance to victims of domestic violence.

As part of the consolidation of the Department of Social Services (DSS), Domestic Violence Programs with the County’s Department of Community Services, a grant supporting rapid rehousing of victims of domestic violence was transitioned from DSS to the County. The Continuum of Care grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development provides the necessary funding for rental assistance to victims who are homeless or are fleeing from abuse. The grant supports short term housing in the form of rent for a temporary 3 to 6 month period. Once the victims are accepted in the program and placed in a home, they are encourage to avail themselves of the additional services that are provided by The Bridge. Net fiscal impact to the County will be zero for Fiscal 2020.
