MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH

September 7, 2004

          The Cecil County Board of Health met in the County Commissioner’s Board Room 107 North Street, Elkton, Maryland on Tuesday, September 7, 2004.  The following members of the Board were present:

            Nelson K. Bolender, President

            Phyllis Kilby, Vice President

            Harry A. Hepbron, Commissioner

            William C. Manlove, Commissioner

            Mark H. Guns, Commissioner

            Dr. Virginia Bailey

            Constituting a full Board.

            Dr. Bailey provided final report relating to the Bathing Beach Sampling Program for 2004.  Area beaches were prioritized and monitored weekly for potential health risk based on several factors including the level of use, possible sources of pollution and previous water quality data.

            A total of 18 beaches were sampled during the season, with two beaches designated as high priority and sampled weekly – the North East River Beach at Elk Neck State Park and Riverside Beach at Carpenters Point. 

            The Board was updated on the Immunization Clinic to be held at the Health Department, dates, times and fee schedule was provided.

            Dr. Bailey provided the Board with a Program Description of the Cecil County Health Department Alcohol and Drug Center and the services provided.
