Civil War Trail Markers

• Perryville Community Park. Four legged recruits were trained here and sent off to war. The Mule School prepared mules for the rigors of battle.
• Rodgers Tavern,259 Broad St., Perryville. A small town became an important outpost for Union forces, when the town's rails became the end of the train line.
• Port Deposit. A local artillery battery, Snow's Battery, found itself playing a vital role at Antietam.
Mount Harmon

Mount Harmon Plantation is the northernmost colonial era Tidewater plantation open to the public, and is a scenic and historic treasure. The plantation museum and grounds are open May through October, Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join us for guided tours of the manor house and self-guided tours of the grounds and nature trails.

On the C&D Canal. Highlights the history of the busiest canal in the U.S., in operation since 1829. The museum is located in the original pumphouse. Exhibits, artifacts, and monitor giving up to the minute locations of ships in the canal; Waterwheel, and the oldest engines of their kind in the U.S. still on their original mount, on display.
