| Mission Statement
The mission of the Cecil County State's Attorney's Office is to ensure effective prosecution of criminal and juvenile offenses occurring within the county; to work cooperatively with law enforcement officers, child abuse investigators and other allied professionals; and to serve the interests of victims of crime.
Responsibilities of the Office of the State's Attorney
The State's Attorney is elected for a four year term in non-presidential election years. The Office of the State's Attorney for Cecil County is primarily responsible for the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases at the trial level. It works with police in the development of cases, presentations to the Grand Jury and trial of cases in the Circuit, District or Juvenile Court.
The State's Attorney's Office initiates its own programs and services which focus on specific crime issues and victims-witness concerns. It also partners with other local and state agencies to promote the health and safety of Cecil County citizens.
