Public Notice Ordinance 2010-06
Amendment to the Cecil County Code Chapter 211 - Electrical Standards, Administration and Inspections
The Board of County Commissioners of Cecil County will hold a public hearing on August 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Elk Room of the County Administration Building, 200 Chesapeake Boulevard, Elkton, MD to consider the establishment of a new Chapter 211 - Electrical Standards, Administration and Inspections. This proposed ordinance is the result of House Bill 340 that was approved by the Governor of Maryland on May 20, 2010 that repeals the existing Chapter 99 -Board of Electrical Examiners and Licensing of Electricians of the Cecil County Code. The repeal of Chapter 99 takes effect on October 1, 2010.
Chapter 211 will replace Chapter 99 and in summary proposes the following:

Adopts the National Electrical Code as the Cecil County Electrical Code

Establishes a seven member Board of Electrical Examiners

Establishes the powers and duties of the Board of Electrical Examiners

Establishes a permit, licensing, and inspection process

Establishes a process for emergency inspections

Provides the Board of County Commissioners the ability to appoint such inspectors, or approve and license such inspection agencies, as the Board so desires to protect and promote the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Cecil County.

Provides the County Commissioners the ability to establish applicable fees

Establishes a process relating to violations, complaints, and penalties
