CECIL COUNTY SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICT
The Board of Cecil County Commissioners is pleased to announce the passage of HB 1562, "Cecil County Special Taxing Districts". The Maryland House and Senate voted overwhelmingly in favor of the bipartisan local initiative in response to the strong leadership of Senator Nancy Jacobs, Delegates Dave Rudolph, Mary Dulany James, and Mary Roe Walkup.
This legislation will now provide the county with a valuable tool to help establish the needed infrastructure, particularly in preparation for BRAC, and direct growth into the designated growth corridor to avoid taxing existing Cecil County taxpayers for this purpose.
"We sincerely thank those members of the Cecil County delegation who supported this legislation. They invested tremendous personal effort and made this a reality," said William Manlove, President of the Board of Cecil County Commissioners.
"Now we have an additional tool to direct growth that is in concurrence with the County's Economic Development Strategic Plan. This is a great step forward in preserving our farmland and rural heritage," said Al Miller, President of the Cecil County Chamber of Commerce.
HB 1562 Cecil County Special Taxing Districts will now be forwarded to Governor Martin O'Malley for his signature. For more information please contact County Administrator Alfred C. Wein, Jr. via email to awein@ccgov.org or phone 410.996.5203.
