 Cecil County Commissioners Appoint Charter Board

            Elkton, MD - The Board of Cecil County Commissioners announced the following appointments to the Cecil County Charter Board at their March 3, 3009 public meeting: Joyce Bowlsbey, Henry Burden, John K. Burkley II, Ross Cameron, Jr., Robert Gell, Harland Graef, Nicholas Ricciuti, Daniel Schneckenburger, and Chris Ann Szep. 

            The Charter Board is authorized to create a charter for Cecil County to change the present form of government.  They will have a full year to draft a charter for submission to the Commissioners.  The anticipated date the proposed charter will go before the voters at the November 2, 2010 general election. 

            The first organizational meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in County Administration Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd., Elkton, MD.   The leading authority on forms of government in Maryland, Mr. Victor Tervala from the University of Maryland, will provide the Board with information on the process.  More information will be available on the Cecil County Government website, www.ccgov.org as it becomes available.
