Project for Principio Sanitary Sewer Announcement
Elkton, MD - Work on the project to construct the Principio Sanitary Sewer Subdistrict South Interceptor is set to begin on Monday, May 18, 2009. The project will replace the Charlestown Main Pump Station located on MD 267 and the Rte 7 pump station and force main. These improvements are necessary to provide safe pumping capacity for existing sewage flows and future development within Charlestown and the Principio Business Park. The completion of this project will allow the building moratorium for this area due to the restricted capacity of the Charlestown Main Pump Station to be lifted.
The project will include constructing one new pump station, an emergency generator, sanitary sewer and force main, and site work. The project will also include the demolition of both existing pump stations. The contract is due to be completed in December 2009.
Eastern States Construction Services, Inc. of Wilmington, DE was awarded this contract for $1,444,450. The design engineer is Morris & Ritchie Associates, Inc. of Abingdon, Maryland. The project is 100% County-funded from the General Fund.
