Anticipated Impact

The Neighborhood Youth panel of North East will ensure that youthful misdemeanor offenders and their victims receive the attention they need and deserve.  The panel presents an opportunity for the community to have a voice in solving juvenile problem, in effect, neighbors helping neighbors.

 The desired results of the Neighborhood Youth Panel are:

•  To provide direct and swift accountability of youthful offenders to the victim and community;
• To provide the opportunity for communities to take an active role and responsibility in changing the behavior of juvenile offenders through sanctioning, mentoring, and by providing positive role models;
• To provide an opportunity for juvenile offenders to connect with responsible members of the community-members of the community who serve as positive resources and help offenders to become productive members of the community.
