The Cecil County Office of Planning & Zoning provides staff support to the County Executive, the Planning Commission, the Board of Appeals, and the Historic District Commission. This office also implements the goals and objectives of the County's Comprehensive Plan through the administration of the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations and the Forest Conservation Regulations. The office is comprised of nine individuals located in the County Administration Building.
Online Zoning Ordinance Update
On February 7, 2017, the County Council approved amendments to the Zoning Ordinance pertaining to communication towers. Specifically, communication towers are now permitted with conditions in the OS zoning district. Signed by the County Executive on February 8, 2017, these amendments become effective on April 10, 2017. The online Zoning Ordinance has been updated to reflect the amendments, and it can be perused at the Frequently Requested Documents and Forms page.
Amendment to Comprehensive Plan
On December 20, 2016, the County Council approved amending the County's Comprehensive Plan to incorporate the 2012 Growth Tier Map (Senate Bill 236). Both Resolution 56-2016 and the amended comprehensive plan can be perused at the Frequently Requested Documents and Forms page.
New Master Water & Sewer Plan Approved
On August 24, 2015, the Maryland Department of the Environment approved the County's new Master Water & Sewer Plan.
