Signs of failing septic systems
A malfunctioning septic system is a public health hazard as it will ultimately result in degradation of water quality. A malfunctioning septic system may result in pollutants entering the stormwater system. Repairing problems will protect yourself, your friends and your county. The following is a list of signs a malfunctioning septic system:
- Slowly draining sinks and toilets
- Plumbing backups
- Gurgling in the plumbing
- Damp soil or ponding over the drain system in the yard
- Grass growing faster and greener in the area of the drain system compared to the rest of the yard
- Sewage odor near the system
