Invitation to Bid
Sealed bid proposals for Replacement of Blue Ball Road Bridge over Little Northeast Creek as described in the proposal package, for the Cecil County Government, Department of Public Works will be received from qualified bidders until 2:00 pm on October 26, 2006 in the Purchasing Office, 218 North Street, Elkton, Maryland 21921
The project will generally consist of the removal and disposal of the existing bridge consisting of a steel beam and concrete slab superstructure and concrete abutments and replacement with a new pre-stressed concrete beam and concrete slab superstructure, and new concrete abutments, and replacement of approximately 130 L.F. of approach roadway pavement
Additional specifications and/or instructions to bidders may be obtained by calling the Purchasing Department, (David Pyle, Purchasing Agent) at 410-996-5395/5396. Bid packages may be picked up at the Purchasing Office at a cost of $50.00 per package.
A mandatory "Pre-Bidding Information Conference" for the purpose of answering questions of parties interested in constructing the work will be conducted in the Commissioners' Board Room, County Administrative Building, 107 North Street, Elkton, Maryland at 9:00 am on October 5, 2006.
Electronically submitted bid proposals will no be accepted.
Bid Proposals will not be accepted from contractors who have not obtained plans and documents from the Cecil County Purchasing Department.
Upon request, the Purchasing Office will provide vendor lists to requesting parties for this solicitation unless a vendor/contractor provides a written request barring the disclosure of their information until after specific bid award.
LOCAL CONTRACTORS PREFERENCE: Section 183-21 of the Cecil County Code provides for the Local Preference whereby the Board of County Commissioners of Cecil County reserves the right to show preference to local bidders in the purchase of supplies, equipment, and services.
