The Cecil County Office of Planning & Zoning provides staff support to the Board of County Commissioners, the Planning Commission, the Board of Appeals, and the Historic District Commission. This office also implements the goals and objectives of the County's Comprehensive Plan through the administration of the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations and the Forest Conservation Regulations. The office is comprised of twelve individuals located in the County Administration Building.

In order to comply with Maryland State law, the Board of County Commissioners adopted significant amendments to the Forest Conservation Regulations on October 20, 2009.
