The Cecil County Office of Planning & Zoning provides staff support to the Board of County Commissioners, the Planning Commission, the Board of Appeals, and the Historic District Commission. This office also implements the goals and objectives of the County's Comprehensive Plan through the administration of the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations and the Forest Conservation Regulations. The office is comprised of twelve individuals located in the County Administration Building.
Online Zoning Ordinance updated
At their meeting of May 21, 2013, the County Council adopted amendments to Sections 12 and 79 of the Zoning Ordinance. Said amendments adjust the ordinance's regulations pertaining to home occupations.The online Zoning Ordinance has been updated to reflect these changes. Senate Bill 236 - Adopted Tier Map
On December 17, 2012, County Executive Moore administratively adopted a Senate Bill 236 Tier Map for Cecil County. The action was taken in accordance with Section 2.2.4 of the implementation and guidance documents associated with the Sustainable Growth and Agricultural Protection Act of 2012.

Senate Bill 236 was signed into law earlier this year and became effective on July 1, 2012. The law requires that all Counties and municipalities establish a four tier system that will impact future subdivision and land development.
