Historic District CommissionPurpose
The Historic District Commission (HDC) derives its authority from Article XI, Part IV, Section 245 of the Cecil County Zoning Ordinance and Section 8, Article 66B of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The HDC's duties include making recommendations on applications for historic designation, to recommend that such designation be rescinded or amended, to issue or deny certificates of appropriateness for designated structures, and to inform and educate the citizens of Cecil County on the historic and architectural heritage of the County.
The Commission meets at 3:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. Please refer to the actual meeting agendas for the precise date and meeting locations.

Please note that properties located within any of the eight incorporated towns are not eligible for County designation. Properties within town limits must be nominated by the appropriate town historic district commission
