Available GIS Data2008 & 2009 Orthophotography
Orthophotography taken in 2009 is available from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources' Geospatial Data Download page. The 2009 orthophotography is one meter resolution, natural color imagery from the National Agricultural Imagery Program.
Orthophotography from 2008 is available from the Office of Planning & Zoning. Taken as part of a statewide project, this photography is in the public domain. However, due to the large size of the various files, individuals must provide County staff with an external hard drive having at least 200 GB free space (and advance notice) in order to obtain this data. Due to their large file size, individual tiles are unable to be e-mailed.
2005 Orthophotography, Topography, and Planimetrics
In 2005 the Cecil County Department of Emergency Services (DES) received funding to upgrade their various Emergency 911 mapping applications. As part of the project, digital orthophotographs of the entire county were obtained, and from the photographs, topography and GIS shapefiles of numerous cultural and environmental features were created.
Cecil County Government has contracted with Axis GeoSpatial, LLC to serve as our "Spatial Data Manager" in response to the large demand for this data. To learn more about the available data, the cost of the data, and the how to order the data, please click here.

If interested in purchasing a CD of all the scans (in tiff format), please provide one recordable CD (CD-R) and a $50 fee to the Office of Planning & Zoning. Checks should be made payable to "Treasurer of Cecil County." Additionally, please allow for a one to two business day turn around for processing and burning the CD. The subdivision plats may also be downloaded by clicking here.
Parcel Information - Cecil County has completed development of a vector parcel geodatabase. Said geodatabase is available via the County's Spatial Data Manager. To learn more about purchasing this geodatabase, please click here.
Raster based parcel data (with a point-based centroid) can be obtained from Maryland Property View, which is a product prepared and distributed by the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP). Cecil County cannot resell or provide copies of Property View to others, but to learn more about directly obtaining a copy of Property View, please contact MDP.
Topography - Scanned versions of five foot interval topographic maps compiled between the late 1970s and late 1990s are available. These scans are not geo-referenced, and the dates on which the topography was compiled varies greatly from one portion of the County to another. To view the areas of the County for which these maps are available, please click here. To obtain a copy of all 300+ of these maps, please provide one recordable CD (CD-R) and a $25 fee to the Office of Planning & Zoning. Checks should be made payable to "Treasurer of Cecil County."
