2005 Orthophotography, Topography, and Planimetrics

This page provides additional detail regarding the orthophotography, topography, and planimetrics that are available for purchase. 

Available Data

1) Orthophotography - Color orthophotos were taken in 2005 and are in TIFF format with an associated TFW file. 

200 Scale - Digital orthophotos of the entire County are available at a scale of 1:2400 (200 scale).  The 200 scale orthos have a resolution of 0.25 meters (1200 m x 1800 m), are in TIFF format with an associated TFW file, are true color RGB, and one tile is 98.8 MB in size.  To view the tile grid for the 200 scale photos, please click here. 

100 Scale - Digital orthophotos of the County's designated growth area are available at a scale of 1:1200 (100 scale).  The 100 scale orthos have a resolution of 0.15 meters (600 m x 900 m), are in TIFF format with an associated TFW file, are true color RGB, and one tile is 68.8 MB in size.  To view the tile grid for the 100 scale photos, please click here. 

50 Scale - A limited number of digital orthophotos are available at a scale of 1:600 (50 scale).  These photos are limited to the Meadowview Sanitary Subdistrict and the Town of North East.  The 50 scale orthos have a resolution of 0.10 meters (300 m x 450 m), are in TIFF format with an associated TFW file, are true color RGB, and one tile is 38.6 MB in size.  To view the tile grid for the 50 scale photos, please click here.

2) Topography - Much like the orthophotography, topography was generated at three scales.  All topography files are currently in SHP format but are anticipated to be available in DXF and DWG formats shortly.  In addition to being available as contours, spot elevations are also available. 

 1 meter topography - One meter topography (3.28 feet between contour intervals) is available for the entire County. 

 0.6 meter topography - 0.6 meter topography (1.96 feet between contour intervals) is available for the County's designated growth area.  To view the locations where 0.6 meter topography is available, please click here. 

 0.4 meter topography - 0.4 meter topography (1.31 feet between contour intervals) is available in a limited area around the Meadowview Sanitary Subdistrict and the Town of North East.  To view the locations where 0.4 meter topography is available, please click here.

3) Planimetrics - A variety of planimetric shapefiles showing features such as building outlines, vegetation, hydrography, utilities, address points, and road centerlines are available.  Please contact the County's Spatial Data Manager to learn more about the availability of these layers in a giver location. 

Pricing - In order to obtain the most up to date pricing schedule, please contact Axis GeoSpatial, LLC, the County's Spatial Data Manager, at 410-822-1441 (phone) or 410-822-6225 (FAX).  There is a $150 minimum order, and discounts are available for individuals purchasing large amounts of data (i.e. all of the orthophotos) and for individuals from educational and non-profit firms.  Proceeds from the sale of data are devoted to maintaining and updating the County's mapping efforts.

Before ordering, please make sure that you have:
1)     Perused the available data section to ensure that data for your project area is available in the format, size, or at the scale desired;
2)     Have the location of your project (i.e. physical street address, map and parcel number, or account identifier) readily available;
3)     Have completed a data order form; and  
4)     Have read through and signed a data license agreement.
