Agricultural Preservation Advisory Board
Originally created to review applications for the Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Program, this board reviews applications to ensure that requirements of State laws are met.

Board of Appeals
The Board of Appeals is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and serves as a citizen review board for County planning decisions. The board is a quasi-judicial board, which makes decisions on special exceptions, variances and appeals. The Board of Appeals holds public meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in Courtroom 1 of the Cecil County Courthouse.

Historic District Commission
The Historic District Commission (HDC) derives its authority from Article XI, Part IV, Section 245 of the Cecil County Zoning Ordinance and Section 8, Article 66B of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The HDC's duties include making recommendation on applications for historic designation, to recommend that such designation be rescinded or amended, to issue or deny certificates of appropriateness for designated structures, and to inform and educate the citizens of Cecil County on the historic and architectural heritage of the County.The Commission meets at 3:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room.

Planning Commission The Planning Commission meets the third Monday of each month. Subdivision proposals are heard at 12:00 pm in the Commissioners meeting room located at 107 North Street. Rezoning, Special Exceptions are heard at 7:00 pm in Courtroom 1 of the Cecil County Courthouse. The Planning Commission is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The Planning Commission serves as a citizen review board and makes recommendations to the Board of Appeals or County Commissioners regarding rezoning cases, special exceptions, amendments or changes to County Ordinances. The Planning Commission has the authority to approve all major subdivisions of land.
