REQUIRED INFORMATION FOR SPRINKLER PLANSSite Plan Details A site plan needs to show the following:
: Location of water source.
: Water supply information at source.
: Distance between the water source and the entry of the water-service pipe into the dwelling.
: Changes in elevation from the water source to the floor level.
: Name of homeowner.
: Street address or lot number.
: Subdivision name.
: Contractors name, address and contact information.
: Compass point showing "plan north" or "true north"
Sprinkler Plan DetailsSprinkler plans should have the following information
: Sprinkler system block identifying the pipe material, total number of sprinklers and static pressure at water supply.
: Where a multipurpose sprinkler system serves the plumbing fixtures and the fire sprinklers, a plumbing fixture legend providing a list and count of the plumbing fixtures.
: Details illustrating the bracing and mounting methods for each type of fire sprinkler.
: Riser detail showing the fire sprinkler riser.
: Identification of remote sprinkler which is the hydraulically most remote on the plans.
: Dimension lines for the plan reviewer to document that the correct distances were used in the calculations.
: Floor plans showing all exterior and interior walls so that plan reviewer can evaluate the sprinkler coverage in each compartment.
Component InformationAll relevant manufacturer's information should be submitted along with the fire sprinkler plans and calculations including:
: Data sheets for sprinklers, pipe, fittings and components such as meters will confirm that the items are listed fire protection systems. The use of recessed or concealed sprinklers is a customers choice. If more than one type of sprinkler is desired, a room-by-room list should be provided.
: The manufactures instructions will include specific installation requirements such as spacing, support, bracing and related information needed to install the items in compliance with the IRC Section P2904 or NFPA 13D.
: Water-meter size and friction loss data is typically provided by the manufacturer. However, if the manufacturer did not provide friction loss data, the information can be taken from IRC Table P2904.6.2(2).
