Cecil County has an excellent education system.  The Cecil County Public Schools rank highly amongst Maryland counties and local educational resources are abundant.  Cecil College provides excellent training for a dynamic and fast-paced job market.  Some of the most well-known and top ranked universities surround Cecil County.  Industry leaders have located to Cecil County to take advantage of the talented and highly educated workforce within the region.

 

Higher Education
Cecil County is surrounded by a number of major research institutions and renowned universities.  Over 114 higher education institutions are located within 75 miles of Cecil County:  The University of Delaware, the University of Maryland, the University of Pennsylvania, Towson University, Villanova University, Franklin and Marshall, Temple University, John Hopkins University, and many more.

 With SAT scores that remain higher than the Maryland average and a commitment  to academic excellence, Cecil County Public Schools enable students with the skills, knowledge, and attitude to achieve in their future educational endeavors.  One of Cecil County Public School's most significant programs is the Cecil County STEM Academy.  Each Cecil County high school offers college bound students the opportunity to prepare for careers in mathematics, science, and engineering.  The program requires academic rigor and provides students with work-based experience, access to experts in the field, and lab based studies.

Cecil College is recognized as one of the area's most dynamic and comprehensive open admission educational institutions.  Cecil College offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs to fit the needs of a changing economy and job market.  Recognizing the needs of each individual student, Cecil College has designed programs with flexible schedules and a variety of teaching methods.  Cecil College strives to empower its students with skills, knowledge, and passion for continuing their education or entering into the workforce.

The Cecil County Public Library System (CCPL) has seven locations throughout Cecil County.  The  CCPL has a number of programs for children, adolescents, and adults.  Educational events are offered to meet the needs of Cecil residents.  With a staff that has grown to nearly one-hundred, the CCPL offers excellent customer-service and thrives on teamwork.
