Tari Moore began serving her first term as Commissioner for the Second District on December 13, 2010.  She is the former Executive Director of the Cecil County Chamber of Commerce and a 2005 graduate of the Cecil Leadership Institute.  She also served on the County Economic Development Commission and was an appointee to the Maryland Transportation Authority's Cecil/Harford Bridges Work Group in 2006. 

Commissioner Moore has extensive professional experience in management, governmental budgeting and affairs, strategic planning, legislative issues, community and public relations.   She serves on the Board of Directors for Union Hospital, the United Way of Cecil County, the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo), and LGIT (Local Government Insurance Trust). 

She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Redlands (CA), has completed numerous training courses with the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and is enrolled in the Maryland Academy for Excellence in Local Governance.

Her commitment to community has resulted in a number of honors.  In 2008, she was awarded a Maryland General Assembly Official Citation for her "extraordinary leadership as the Executive Director of the Cecil County Chamber of Commerce". In 2004 she was an ATHENA Award Nominee, and was awarded the Mattie Harris "Spirit of the American Woman Award"  - bestowed to an individual in county government who has worked diligently to provide excellence in service to the community.

Commissioner Moore will represent the Board of Commissioners as a member of the following organizations:

  • Cecil Partnerships for Children, Youth, and Families
  • Commission on Aging
  • Council of Governments
  • Infants and Toddlers Program - Local Interagency Coordinating Council
  • Maryland Association of Counties
  • Local Government Insurance Trust

Commissioner Moore lives in Elkton with her husband, Steve, who is employed by Alliant Tech Systems (ATK).  Their son, Matthew graduated from Elkton High School in 2008 and is currently studying meteorology at Millersville University.  Their daughter, Melissa Moore-Oholendt is a professional photographer residing in Minneapolis with her husband Matt, a private attorney in commercial transactions.
