COMMISSIONERS MEETING May 26, 2009
The Board of County Commissioners for Cecil County met in session for adoption of the constant yield tax rate and the FY 2010 budget at the County Administration Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton, MD. The following members of the Board were present:
Brian L. Lockhart, President Rebecca J. Demmler, Vice President Wayne L. Tome, Sr., Commissioner Robert J. Hodge, Commissioner James T. Mullin, Commissioner
Constituting a full Board.
The meeting of the Board of County Commissioners for Cecil County, May 26, 2009 was called to order by Commissioner Lockhart at 2:00 p.m. and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
- TAX RATE ADOPTION-
President Lockhart called for a vote to adopt the Tax Rate of $.94 of $100 of assessed value, which is two-cent reduction in the current rate.
Motion to adopt the Tax Rate in the amount of $.94 of assessed value was made by Commissioner Tome, seconded by Commissioner Demmler and unanimously carried to approval.
- ADOPTION OF FY 2010 CECIL COUNTY BUDGET-
Budget Manager Craig Whiteford presented the proposed FY 2010 Cecil County Budget in the amount of $164,954,097 for adoption by the Board.
COMMISSIONERS' COMMENTS -
Commissioner Hodge commented he is not happy about the revenue sources that were eliminated and funding that was required to be cut, however, feels as though this is a good budget.
Commissioner Demmler commented that she and the other board members agonized over this budget and is very pleased that they were able to reduce the tax rate.
Motion to adopt the FY 2010 Budget was made by Commissioner Tome, seconded by Commissioner Lockhart and unanimously carried to approval.
- 2009 BOND RESOLUTION -
County Administrator Wein presented the 2009 General Obligation Bond Resolution for the proposed June 18, 2009 bond sale relating to the approved FY 09 Capital Improvement Projects in the amount of $27,695,000, introduced to the Board at the May 19, 2009 meeting.
Motion to approve the 2009 General Obligation Bond Resolution was made by Commissioner Demmler, seconded by Commissioner Tome and unanimously carried to approval. A copy of this resolution is attached hereto and incorporated into these minutes.
There being no further business of the County Commissioners, the meeting concluded. > |
