CALL FOR ART ENTRIES! See Cecil County... Event - A juried exhibition of framed artwork hosted by Cecil County Tourism and the Tourism Arts & Culture Committee, at the Cecil County Visitor Center at Perryville Outlet Center. Open Reception - November 14, 2009, 2 pm - 4 pm. Exhibit runs November 14, 2009 - February 14, 2010. Artwork - Pieces exhibited are chosen at the discretion of the jury. Artwork must be framed and ready to hang. Cecil County Tourism uses the Walker system, so please ensure your work has wire backing to sustain the weight of the art. Minimum frame size - 12" x 14"; maximum frame size - 2.5' x 3.5'. An artist can utilize up to 15' (linear) of wall space. Cecil County Tourism will not be held responsible for selling artwork. Artist may supply a tag for each piece containing price and contact information so artist may sell work on their own. Important Dates - Art being submitted for consideration must be delivered to the Visitor Center October 29th, 10 am - 6:30 pm, or October 30-31, 10 am - 4 pm. Art not selected for the exhibition must be picked up November 2nd or 3rd, 2 pm - 4 pm. Selected artists encouraged to assist with hanging on November 10th 1-4 pm. At the end of exhibit, artwork MUST BE PICKED UP February 15th or 16th, 10 am - 6pm. Fees - There is no fee for selected artists to participate. Guidelines - Artwork must have a Cecil County focus. Non-county residents may submit work, but their subject matter must be relating to Cecil County. Preference will be given to county artists. All work must be the original work of the submitting artist. No photo-mechanical reproductions of original work will be accepted. Cecil County Tourism reserves the right to refuse specific works for aesthetic, or other reasons. All work must be delivered on the designated dates and times. All work must be picked up promptly at the close of each exhibit. There is no storage space. The artist agrees to hold Cecil County Tourism harmless for any loss, damage, or expense which may arise from the showing, hanging, storing, selling, or transporting of art entrusted to Cecil County Tourism. Tourism does not provide insurance for works displayed. Artists are responsible for their own insurance. Public Access to Garrett Island Restored Control of Garrett Island has been transferred from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to the U.S. Park Service. A portion of the island has been re-opened to the public, effective September 30, 2009. Anyone is allowed to visit the island from dawn to dusk for the purposes of environmental education, interpretation, wildlife observation, wildlife photography and fishing, among other passive uses. Camping, building campfires, collecting artifacts, launching fireworks and consuming alcohol or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited. |
