ATTENTION Please be advised that Cecil County will be implementing a new system of automated application, processing and tracking of plumbing permits to improve the overall permit process. The new permitting procedures will be going into effect August 1, 2007. There will be many changes in the way permits for connection to county water and/or sewer are processed. Some of the changes include: 1. To apply for a permit to connect a new structure to a county water and/or sewer system, a Permits and Inspections staff member must ascertain that the connection fees were paid on the building permit. If the fees were paid on the building permit, the plumbing permit can be issued. If the connection fees were not paid on the building permit, the plumbing permit will not be issued. The Department of Public Works will be notified of the situation and they will determine the connection fee due. Once the connection fee is paid, the plumbing permit can be issued. 2. To apply for a permit to connect an existing dwelling to a county water and/or sewer system, a pre-approval form must be completed and signed by the property owner and approved and signed by the Chief of Water and Sewer, the Water and Sewer Inspector and the Water and Sewer Reviewer. You must present this completed form to a Permits and Inspections staff member upon application of a permit to connect to a county system. The connection permit will not be accepted without this form. The form is available to download below and available in the Department of Permits and Inspections and in the Department of Public Works. There will be other procedure changes that may not be listed on this memorandum. As with any procedure changes, there will be an adjustment period. If you have any questions about the new procedures, please do not hesitate to ask a Department of Permits and Inspections or Department of Public Works staff member. Permit Applications
