    Governor Larry Hogan Declares State of Emergency for Florence

    ELKTON, MD. – After Governor Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency ahead of the landfall of Hurricane Florence, residents of Cecil County are encouraged to prepare now for potential effects from the storm. The executive order will allow the state to more efficiently coordinate support and provide assistance to local jurisdictions within Maryland and neighboring states.

    Notice of Enactment On Tuesday, September 4, 2018 Legislative Session Day 2018-16, the County Council of Cecil County Enacted: Bill No. 2018-06 Amendment – Zoning Ordinance – Private Schools – Industrial Zones. An Act to amend the Cecil County Zoning Ordinance, Article V, Part IV, Section 88 Schools, Private in order to allow private schools in M1 and M2 zoning; and to amend the table of permissible uses to reflect this change.     EMMITSBURG, MD. -- Cecil County’s Deputy Emergency Manager Michelle Lloyd graduated from FEMA’s National Emergency Management Advanced Academy (NEMAA) at the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, MD, after she completed the full curriculum that provides the strategic level training and education and the essential skills needed for emergency management professionals to manage dynamic and resilient emergency management programs on August 30, 2018.

    DNR Grant To Support County's Green Infrastructure Plan

    ELKTON, MD. -- The Maryland Department of Natural Resources recently announced $700,000 in Community Resilience Grants to help jurisdictions prepare for and recover from climate-related impacts. The competitive grants are designed to help strengthen a community’s ability to assess risk through planning and construct solutions to boost their capacity to withstand flooding and other weather-related events.

    Roads Division Soliciting Letters of Interest for 2018-19 Snow Removal

    The Cecil County Roads Division is soliciting Letters of Interest from all contractors who wish to participate in snow removal during the winter season of 2018-2019. Meeting for tentative snow contractors will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 8AM at the Office of Cecil County Roads Division, 758 E. Old Philadelphia Road, Elkton, MD 21921. Completed snow contracts are due in the Roads Division office by close of business, Friday, September 28, 2018.
