County to Conduct Public Information Meeting Regarding Transitioning CECO Sewer Customers to County Sewer Service
ELKTON, MD. – Cecil County Government will conduct a public information meeting on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 regarding the project to connect the CECO sewer system to the County’s Cherry Hill sewer system and to transition CECO’s sewer customers to County sewer service. The meeting will be held beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Cherry Hill Middle School, located at 2535 Singerly Road, Elkton.
CECO is a private utility which provides sewer service to approximately 120 customers in the Manchester Park area of Cecil County. CECO and the County have entered into an agreement whereby the County will take over ownership and operation of the CECO sewer collection system once a connection is made to the County’s nearby Cherry Hill sewer system. After the connection is made and the County officially takes ownership of the system, CECO’s sewer customers will become County sewer customers. Construction of the connection to the Cherry Hill system is in progress and is expected to be completed in early 2020.
Representatives from the departments of Public Works and Finance will be on-hand at the meeting to provide updates and to answer questions. Current CECO sewer customers are encouraged to attend.
The transition to County sewer service is expected to occur sometime in the first half of 2020, although the exact date has not yet been determined as it depends on completion of the construction project to connect the CECO sewer system to the County’s Cherry Hill sewer system.
