Residential Construction On The Rise in Cecil County
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 9, 2019
ELKTON, MD. – Cecil County’s Office of Land Use and Development Services (LUDS) announced that, to date, the number of residential building permits issued is on the rise in the county.
As of June 30th, the Permits and Inspections office had already issued 160 residential building permits (which includes single family homes, apartments and townhomes) in 2019, thus putting the County on pace for the issuance of 320 permits by the end of the year. For calendar year 2018, just 191 residential building permits were written.
“The statistics seem to indicate that County Executive McCarthy’s efforts to improve and streamline the permitting process is finally bearing fruit. Hopefully, these trends will continue in an upward fashion and lead to a solid renaissance in all segments of the residential home building market,” said Eric Sennstrom, LUDS Director.
“Our continued efforts to improve infrastructure and broaden the employment base by bringing in new businesses and expanding opportunities with current companies, as well as instituting greater county-wide services and developing our parks, is drawing residents to Cecil County,” explained County Executive Alan McCarthy. “I am very pleased with the direction we are headed.”
