FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 8, 2018
ELKTON, MD. -- Joe DiNunzio, Executive Vice President for Artesian Resources Corporation & Subsidiaries, and Michael Ratchford, Government Relations Associate for W.L. Gore & Associates, presented a check in the amount of $11,500 today to Derek DeWitt, Executive Director and Ashley Choate, Area Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cecil County.
"This gift is very much appreciated and will assist with youth development programs," remarked DeWitt. "Last year we served approximately 300 children in Cecil County and this year we expect to serve over 500 children in this area. It is contributions like this that allow us to continue to expand our services."
County Executive Alan McCarthy commended the representatives from Artesian Water and W.L. Gore on collaborating to raise funds to benefit the youth in Cecil County. "It is important to keep in mind something that Frederick Douglass said, 'it is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men' and it is because of efforts such as this that we have a jump start on building stronger children," said McCarthy.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Cecil County is currently providing services to children at four locations in the county: Charlestown Elementary School, Elkton Middle School, North East Middle School and North East United Methodist Church.
