Elkton, MD -- The Maryland Building Officials Association (MBOA) announced recently that Joan DiSabatino of the Cecil County Permits and Inspections Division, was named the 2017 MBOA Permit Technician of the Year.
DiSabatino, who has worked in the permitting office for the last seven years and for the Cecil County Electrical Board from 1985 to 2010, was nominated for the award by William Funk, chief building inspector for the County.
"Joan is a great example to me, and all of us, of what customer service is all about," Funk stated during the presentation. "Her knowledge of her specialty of nearly a quarter century in electrical permitting, licensing and code enforcement is recognized and appreciated across the state."
Funk, a County employee since 2003, recently completed his term as president of the MBOA and was also recognized at the ceremony by the International Code Council for his work in training and advancements for building inspectors.
"This shows what an impressive and knowledgeable group of people we have in this division as a whole," remarked Patrick Conway, Chief of Permits and Inspections. "Joan always goes above and beyond. She has provided the same wonderful demeanor to every customer who has come through those doors for the last 20 plus years and she deserves to be recognized for it."
