CECIL COUNTY COUNCIL NAMES POULTRY HOUSE CAFOS COMMITTEE

CECIL COUNTY COUNCIL NAMES POULTRY HOUSE CAFOs COMMITTEE

The Cecil County Council passed legislation to create an ad hoc committee to make recommendations for poultry house CAFOs regulations on July 18.

The first meeting of the committee will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 7pm in the Elk Room of the County Administration Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton MD.  The meeting is open to the public.

The Council created the committee with representation of the community to develop recommendations for regulations on new poultry house CAFOs to be presented to the County Council.

Committee members include Don Moore and Bob Miller from the Farm Bureau, Keith McKenica and Cindy Smith from the Calvert Neighborhood Alliance, Fred VonStaden from the Cecil County Health Department, Perry Willis from the Cecil County Public Schools, Bill Satterfield from the Delmarva Poultry Industry, Jack Schammel from the Chamber of Commerce, Chris Diebold from the Board of Realtors, businessman Don Harmer and John Barteld from Friends of the Library.

The Committee will be facilitated by a mediator from Community Mediation Upper Shore.
